A diary of our family's house building project in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. Also my ponderings on family life, living with Asperger's Syndrome, running an ebay business & a place to share my photography.

New kitchen roof---part 2

Kim turned an ordinary looking piece of ironbark into a beautiful window sill to go across the front of the kitchen. It's 5 metres long.

Then a big solid piece of ironbark as a header that will frame the windows. There wll be 3 windows across the front of the kitchen, the 2 outer ones fixed & the middle one sliding so we will have a large opening for summer, right in front of the sink (so I can yell at the kids). They are double glazed so we won't need blinds in the kitchen (imagine the cleaning). Thes windows face north & will gets lots of sun in winter, some sun in the summer, hopefully the double glazing will reduce the heat & there is a section of roof covering the verandah that runs it's length, about 1 metre deep that will offer some shade in summer but not much in winter when we want it to shine in!

You have such a beautiful family, your home is coming along nicely! Keep up the good and (hard) work, it is starting to show now, Kim has done a wonderful job with the house! and I hope Ivy and Finn settle into day care soon. I have been following your site for quite a while now, I am very impressed!
